Visit of dr. Ray Zhong from University of Auckland

 

It was our pleasure to have Dr. Ray Zong from the Intelligent and Interoperable Manufacturing Systems (IIMS) research group as a visiting lecturer. Erasmus + programme supported his mobility. During his stay, we organized meetings, lectures and excursions as an IEEE Student Branch Activities. We believe that this activities will lead to research cooperation between our research groups and universities.

Bio: Dr. Ray Zhong is a lecturer in The Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Auckland, New Zealand. Ray gained his M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Signal & Information Processing and Industrial & Manufacturing Systems Engineering from the Guangdong University of Technology (China) and The University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong) respectively. His research interests include Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled manufacturing, Big Data in manufacturing & SCM and data-driven APS. He has published over 100 papers in international journals and conferences. Ray served as guest editors for several well-known international journals: International Journal of Production Economics and Computers & Industrial Engineering: An International Journal with the topics of Big Data for Service and Manufacturing Supply Chain Management and Intelligent Enterprise Systems. He was invited to be one of the leading guest editors to organize a special issue on “Data-driven Food Supply Chain Management and Systems” from Industrial Management & Data Systems. In addition, he has participated in a set of projects sponsored by the National R&D department, HK ITF and HKU. He is a member of CIRP RA, ASME (USA), HKIE (HK), IET (UK), IEEE (USA) and LSCM HK. Ray was awarded the certificate of merit in the HK U-21 RFID Awards, the best conference paper in The 2014 IEEE International Conference on Networking, Sensing and Control, and the Young Author Prize in the 15th IFAC/IEEE/IFIP/IFORS Symposium on Information Control Problems in Manufacturing.​

Big Data Analytics for IoT-enabled Manufacturing

Tuesday (13:30-15:00, 10 April)

This talk introduced an IoT-enabled manufacturing by systematically deploying RFID devices and wireless network to create a smart environment where SMOs are able to interact and interconnect with each other so that vast number of data will be generated. A Big Data Analytics approach is presented to make full use the data for various applications. Firstly, an innovative RFID-Cuboid model was proposed to organize the abstract and complex sensed data. Secondly, a Big Data Analytics framework was presented to process the organized RFID Big Data. Thirdly, some application cases were demonstrated to show the feasibility and practicality of the proposed approach.

Smart Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) for IoT-enabled Manufacturing 

Wednesday(15:10-16:40, 11 April)

This talk introduced an IoT-enabled manufacturing by using smart automated guided vehicle (AGV). One focus of this research is using RFID for locating and navigating AGVs. Multipath effect elimination approaches will be discussed in this talk with both active and passive RFID tags. Several scenarios about using RFID will be demonstrated using Makeblock facilities.

Case studies from Industry

Thursday (7:30-9:00, 12 April)

This talk introduced a multi-dimensional Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled BIM platform (MITBIMP) to achieve real-time visibility and traceability in prefabricated construction using RFID, Cloud manufacturing, and BIM visibility technologies. A case study from a real-life construction project in Hong Kong was used as a pilot project to demonstrate advanced decision-making by using cutting-edge concepts and technologies within the MITBIMP to providing a basis for real-time visibility and traceability of the whole processes of prefabrication-based construction.

5. apríla sme sa zúčastnili na cechovácií študentov KKUI z odborov Hospodárska informatika a Inteligenté systémy. Zobrali sme aj našich zahraničných hostí, ktorým sa na tejto akcii veľmi páčilo. Za pozvanie ďakujeme a našim študentom prajeme plno úspechov na štátniciach a v ďalšom živote.

Nadácia Tatra banky - grant Študenti do sveta - Výskumný pobyt University of Auckland

 

Minulý rok 2017 sa nášmu doktorandovi Martinovi Miškufovi podarilo získať grant Študenti do sveta od nadácie Tatra banky. Cieľom grantového programu je podporiť najlepších študentov, aby prostredníctvom zahraničných stáží a štúdií získavali nové vedomosti a skúsenosti, ale aby našli motiváciu vrátiť sa na Slovensko a zužitkovať nadobudnuté poznatky u nás doma. V rámci grantového programu boli poskytnuté finančné granty maximálne do výšky 5 000 Eur na pokrytie časti nákladov spojených so zahraničnými študijnými pobytmi (max. dva semestre), s letnými školami, so stážami a s výskumnými pobytmi na niektorej z renomovaných univerzít v zahraničí, ktoré budú realizované nad rámec bežného štúdia.

 

Finančné prostriedky grantu boli použité na pokrytie cestovných nákladov a ubytovania. Vďaka tejto podpore mohol byť realizovaný výskumný pobyt na prestížnej University of Auckland. Počas pobytu doktorand Martin Miškuf spolupracoval na spoločných témach ako Industry 4.0 a Operator 4.0 s výskumnou skupinou Intelligent and Interoperable Manufacturing Systems (IIMS) pod vedením profesora Xun William XU z University of AucklandPrikladáme aj zopár fotiek z tohto výskumného pobytu.

Počas víkendov sa Martinovi podarilo pocestovať aj po okolí mesta Auckland.

 Cesta do letného Aucklandu s príjemnými 25°C trvala viac ako 40 hodín s medzipristátím v zimnom Pekingu s teplotou -6°C.

It is our pleasure to welcome a Ph.D. student Chao Liu from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, for a research visit of our research group of Intelligent Cybernetic Systems (ICS - http://ics.fei.tuke.sk/) at Department of Cybernetics and Artificial Intelligence at Technical University in Košice, Slovakia. Mr. Chao Liu will stay for 90 days beginning on 21 February 2018 and ending on 21 May 2018. During his stay in our laboratories, he will be collaborating with ICS research group on topics like Cyber-Physical Systems and Smart Manufacturing. Mr. Chao Liu will be supervised by professor Iveta Zolotová and assistant professor Peter Papcun.

Ukončili sme projekt - Quo Vadis Industry 4.0?

Nadácia Tatrabanky - grantový program Kvalita vzdelávania 2017 logoNTB 

Koncom roka 2017 sme ukončili projekt s názvom Quo Vadis Industry 4.0?, zo získaného grantu 4000 eur spomedzi 76 podaných žiadostí z Nadácie Tatrabanky.
Boli sme aj ocenení zverejnením výsledkov aj nášho projektu v oficiálnej tlačovej správe nadáciou.

Riešitelia projektu: Zolotová, Papcun, Bundzel, doktorandi - Lojka, Miškuf, Kajáti, Ferenčík a študenti - Cabadaj, Sedlák a ďalší študenti.

Prínosom projektu je aj kúpa dvoch robotov TurtleBot3 - Waffle a Burger. Študenti a uchádzači o štúdium príďte medzi nás na KKUI a pracujte aj vy s nimi na projektoch.
